Canandaigua Y Swim Team

The Canandaigua YMCA Sailfish Swim Team is a dedicated program designed to inspire its’ youth participants. Our goal is to develop strong, confident athletes that will positively impact and make valuable contributions to their communities. The YMCA is committed to and stands for Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility.

The Swim Team program begins in September and concludes in March. Registration for the Swim Team program will remain open for the programs’ duration. For registration information, please contact Laurie O’Shaughnessy or Sandi Heacock . The YMCA Sailfish Swim Team is an affiliate of USA Swimming. For an additional fee, swimmers may register to become members of USA Swimming. USA Swimming membership provides the swimmer increased exposure to diverse pool competition by offering additional swim opportunities throughout the season.

In addition to our Swim Meets, we conduct and participate in various events to further build camaraderie . The Sailfish annually host a “Team Mock Meet” for the swimmers. This year for added fun and excitement, parents will have the opportunity to break out their bathing suits as well! Stay tuned for details!  The team will support the Y’s “Dunkin’ for Pumpkins” community event scheduled for Sunday October 13th from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM. Proceeds from concessions will support the the team!  We host  “Spaghetti Dinners” to rally the team before swim meets!

Parents! We need your help! Parent volunteers are vital to the success of our Swim Team seasons!  Get off the bleachers and get involved! Whether you officiate, serve as a lane timer or assist with special events, your active participation improves your swimmers overall experience!
