Pool Positions

Lifeguard Position
We are looking for responsible, certified lifeguards to join the Canandaigua Y team. We are looking for people with a wide range of availability – nights, weekends and days. Candidates must be certified lifeguards (either YMCA or Red Cross) in first aid and CPR. Stop by the Canandaigua Y to apply or call 394-6866 with questions.

Swim Instructors
We teach thousands how to swim each year; this is a cornerstone of our YMCA. If you are interested in being such an important part of our Y you must be 15 years or older with experience and JOY to work with kids. We are looking for a person with a swim background, but it is not required. You must be available to work weekends and evenings. As an instructor you represent the Y and our values.

Healthy living positions

Do you have a passion for health and wellness? We have a variety of opportunities for you as Wellness Center Staff or Group Fitness Instructors.

Wellness Center Staff
For wellness center staff applicants should have a general knowledge of fitness field and be comfortable conducting orientations to new and existing members. You will be able to help others work the machines to get the most out of their work out. You will also help us maintain the equipment and facility so each machine is 100 percent.To work in the wellness center you must be an outgoing, people person who wants to help everyone reach their fitness or health goal. You must be willing to work a variety of shifts especially weekends. CPR and First Aid preferred but not required.

Group Instructors
As a group instructor you must have a certification in a specific class. We are always looking to expand our list of programs, so apply we would love to have you!

School Age Child Care

We make memories; we help forge friendships; we learn together, but most importantly we have fun! This is the motto of the Canandaigua YMCA school aged child care. Our school age child care program is where the kids start learning and growing, so start your career with us too.

Become a School Aged Child Care Coordinator (SACC) at the Canandaigua Y, and begin your career with kids! We have opportunities at our home site and our neighboring sites like Honeoye, Livonia, Naples and Bloomfield. We are looking for responsible, coordinated, quality supervisors and people who have experience in the area of child development, elementary education, physical education or recreation. You must also have experience working with youth ages 5 to 12 in large groups, and at least 2 years of supervisory experience. It is critical you ensure the SACC program runs without missing a beat for the entire school year – September to June. We also have opportunities for SUMMER CAMP at the Canandaigua Y.

Facilities Maintenance Team

Facilities Cleaner and Maintenance Employees
Do you have a hidden talent for fixing things or doing odds and ends jobs? Do you want to make a little extra money? We are looking for additional hands to maintain our facility. We are looking for individuals who are ‘handy’ and are available to work days, nights and weekends; a person who will embody the Y mission which stands for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
