About the Y

The Greater Canandaigua Family YMCA is a diverse organization of men, women and children joined together by a shared commitment to nurturing the potential of kids, promoting healthy living and fostering a sense of social responsibility.

Our membership has grown from 500 members to nearly 6,500 members in more than 100 years! We are the center of community for all in the greater Canandaigua area. Parents desire a safe environment in which children can learn practical and social skills and develop positive values. Kids want to exert energy, discover who they are and what they can achieve and be accepted among each other. Adults want to learn more, do more and live more healthily. We nurture life lessons in kids, foster health and well-being among people of any age, bring people together to pursue passions old and new, and provide mutual support for everyone in our neighborhoods.

Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighborhoods to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. We are the leading nonprofit organization in the nation because of our commitment to help people everywhere develop the skills and relationships needed to be healthy, confident and connected to others.
